S and I had my "birthday" dinner this evening. Don't worry - you didn't forget. We had it today because we need to start eating healthily sooner rather than later. Yes, healthily is the correct word after the verb, to eat. I could also say we need to eat more healthy foods. Anyway ....... after dinner, we went to get a diamond cut shredder. I said "oh, so I guess this is my birthday present?" and added, "last year I got a vacuum cleaner and this year I get a paper shredder!" We both started laughing because we both know I also purchased a few fun things in between all that.

New topic! S's gramps is on his last leg; afterall, he is 90something. She has taken time off work to go up there (Longbeach) where he is and take care of him and then get him in the hospital and transitioned to a nursing home. This experience along with the one she experienced with her grandmother (she has already passed on,) motivated S to do a couple things. My favorite was that she immediately went to her closet and filtered through her piles of clothes. I have two big bags in my trunk ready to go to goodwill. The other thing she did was get a few documents drafted for each of us including; will, revocable trust, advanced directive, durable power of attorney for health care and financial power of attorney. She did this with the help of Suze Orman. We already have the appropriate pages notarized. I must admit, it felt weird signing that stuff, but I'm glad we did it.

Monday Madness ????

This week (since I'm fresh out of new ideas), I thought I'd ask you to use the letters in your name (first, last, middle, or other) to list words that describe you!

Bratty at times
Unbelievable
Greaaaaaaaaaaaatt

No, I'm not going to stop there; afterall, there are many sides to me , hee heee heeee.

Jovial
Amiable
Nice
Irritating (to some who don't "get me")
Cold (I mean that literally; my body runs cold)
Embraceable (once again to some - probably not to those who find me irritating)

that was fun Otto! I should play more often.

I was going to talk about the Million Little ......Lies (or pieces of lies?) guy, but he isn't really worth my energy. Instead, I will talk about myself.

How do you start a business? Grab some string from your Mom's drawer, separate it, call it yo-yo string and sell it to classmates. Sell your sister's duplicate collectible stamps for a percentage. Do dishes all day for $1. Clean rooms for $5. Save a seat for 25 cents. It was easy as a kid. Guess what? It's actually pretty easy as an adult too when you love what you do and totally believe in yourself.

For the first time in my adult life, I actually felt sure of myself while negotiating(for a job.) It isn't because I haven't had confidence in myself before; it is because this was the first time I really believed in what I was "selling."

I had spoken with Elena before I even finished school; we talked about the possibility of my doing massage in her salon. Between that time and now there have been two or three other massage therapists working from her salon. Finally, I obtained my license and was able to approach her. She told me that she no longer pays someone an hourly wage which is what she did when I spoke with her originally. The most recent guy rented the room from her. I approached her with a 50/50 proposition. She accepted and tomorrow I have my third massage this week. It may not sound like much, but it's 3 more than I had through passing out business cards. Potential clients are more likely to go into an established business than to call a number from a card they saw on a counter.

The great thing about this is that if my clients decide they would prefer I go to their house, I am not cheating Elena. I am not her employee; therefore I wouldn't be "stealing" a client from her. I feel good about this. It's a start.

Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Charlotte don't you cry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Memories ~~~~~~~~~~~~ from the corner of my mind?

Periodically, the memory of this movie would pop into my "head."

I remembered a gathering of people, a body rolling down stairs, and of course a head rolling down stairs. The song was the most memorable.

I also remember that I had tried to scare my sister, Pam by singing the song from the bottom of the stairs looking up. Of course, I succeeded in scaring the b'jeebers out of myself.

How old was I when I watched this?

I had been wanting to watch this movie as an adult for about 10 years (I think - who knows how accurate my memory is.) I looked at blockbuster to no avail. Finally, I thought to look on amazon.com - I found it!

I just watched it and I am not dissappointed. Not only is it not really scarey, but I had to laugh a few times because her screaming continuously reminded me of a comedian I have seen a couple times recently. Don't get me wrong folks - it is a great movie!

If any of you had this "haunting" you the way it had been haunting me, I suggest you watch it again. Let me know if you would like to borrow it.
