My phone rang at about 8:30pm; It was too early to be from the traveler. I answered. It was from phone number 866-909-6116. The caller said, " I'm sorry, my mistake." I thought it was odd and realized it sounded like a recording. Of course, I googled it. Many people have received the same call. Out of all the comments, no one had any ideas of what the motivation would be behind a call like this. Do you have any ideas?

no idea whatsoever but my cell keeps receiving calls from 973-405-6075, & the caller id indicates it's from New Jersey. At first i was answering but nobody on the other end would talk so now i don't even bother answering it. The paranoid part of me says somebody is trying to 'break into' my phone to use the number perhaps. i'm sure this can be done & will ask about it next month when i start getting together with my techy friends again at the computer club. Love you! ;-)

That's very unusual. Very annoying too. Hope someone can come up with some reason why this is happening. And then STOP it...

    Love ya, seeester! =)

I got a call from that line that said "Hi, this is John from the mortgage group..." and went on this spiel about how my credit score was great and they could get me a great deal on a new mortgage. Uh, no thanks. The problem is that I've gotten this *exact* same call from probably close to a dozen different phone numbers, a different number almost every time.

thanks world! for all you input; I guess we still don't have answers. i tend to think it is an attempt at a scam - stealing the use of your phone number for example -like Mom said.
