Jan's Introspection

me and my latest - whether they be plans, insightful thoughts, ideas or realities.

While I was working at Cedar Plantation, part of my job was to drive the students to various places in a big van. It wasn't the biggest possible van because I did not need a chauffer's license; however, it was too big for me to drive.

How do I know it was too big for me to drive? I didn't feel in control over it.

Just yesterday, I saw this petite little woman driving an SUV bigger than she needed to be driving. She had such trouble maneuvering out of her parking spot. Why? because it was too big for her to see the nose of the vehicle. I could hardly see her in the vehicle. I say her little head and neck stretching to see what was around her.

If the automobile industry is going to continue making SUVs bigger and bigger, and.............. the people who drive them are not smart enough to know if they should or not,.................... maybe we need more laws indicating how tall you must be before you can buy one of these monsters!

Monday Madness on Wednesday!
What do you think of when you see the following colors? (You may write as many words as you like.)

1. White: yang, heaven, clear, clean, bleach

2. Yellow: do you like butter? sherbert, soft

3. Blue: safe, clear sky day or night

4. Black: yin, cold, insecurities

5. Green: Money! grass, frogs

6. Red: Little riding hood, Susan, my favorite color as a child, dangerous

7. Purple: another safe color, pleasant, calming

8. Pink: let's dance!

9. Brown: poop!

10. Gray: hair and it's not so bad turning gray

Monday Madness on Saturday.......

Name your favorite...

1. Family Game - I'm out of practice, but I think I would enjoy Mad Gab and Taboo (only heard of them; haven't played yet.) Mom and I used to play Scrabble pretty often; I miss that. I enjoy Rummikub a bunch.

2. Piece of Jewelry - I'm not really into jewelry much, but a necklace would be the safest bet I guess.

3. Winter Activity - I never was much into the winter activities; it shows when I step on the scale.

4. Hot Beverage - Herbal teas - Green is my "coffee," Rooibos Chai is my leisure tea. I enjoy others here and there also.

5. Quote - I never had a favorite quote, but I saw one today that I appreciate: "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Gandhi

6. Color on You - blue

7. Summer Activity - I would like kayaking to become an activity that I do more often; more realistically, I enjoy bike riding once I lift my butt and put it on the bike.

8. Topping on Pancakes - good ol' maple syrup; where did my seeesters come up with applesauce?

9. Musician - I don't have a favorite here; I enjoy a little bit of each from a wide range of genres.

It's Thursday already!? That's okay, but where has the week gone?

Thank you Susan for filtering through your books on Monday; that was the highlight of my week.

I was a little scared when I returned home from class and Susan said that she had redecorated. I slowly looked around and saw books and papers strewn around the floor. I said nothing at first and she told me that she no longer wanted to keep the things on the floor. I was smiling big. I filtered through what could possibly be used by others and the books that were just notes and should be recycled.

The next day, she had to work late. I thought to myself, I better take care of these now; afterall, she did her part. I took the books to a nearby used book store and donated them. The manager assured me that whatever they would not be able to sell would be further donated to St. something. That was good enough for me.

You may be wondering why I donated rather than sold them. My experience has proven that re-selling books is not very profitable; therefore, it wasn't worth my time. I do sell books (college) however when I know that they are still being used and I don't need them. You generally have to do it as soon as you are finished and have a pool of potential buyers at your fingertips.

Once again, Thanks Susan. I love getting rid of things that are no longer needed, used or worn.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!!

I hadn't been on the computer for a couple of days. Susan was checking my blog last night; she likes to see what's in my head too. From the other room, I hear "Jan.... your birthday is in February, isn't it?" I paused before responding because she has continuously asked which day it fell on since the day we met. I thought to myself, certainly she can remember the month. I answered kindly and then she told me why she asked. For a second, I thought I had spaced out my own birthday and asked her what the date was.

Mom, my birthday is in February! I love you!
